Facebook is the world's biggest and most popular social network, and Columbia Pictures believes it can turn it into a, hopefully, equally popular movie, as the movie company is in "advanced talks" with Director David Fincher, whose works include "Fight Club" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." The movie will be an adaptation of "The Accidental Billionaires," the upcoming book by Ben Mezrich.

It is being produced by Scott Rudin and Michael De Luca, along with Dana Brunetti and Kevin Spacey, and has been written by Aaron Sorkin, according to Variety. CNET News citing industry sources claims actors Michael Cera and Shia LaBeouf are being looked at for playing Facebook's Co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, though there are no definitive talks with either of them.

The movie and the book follow the story of Harvard undergraduates Eduardo Saverin and Mark Zuckerberg and the creation of Facebook in the Harvard campus in 2004. The two were best friends and highly successful academically, but equally unsuccessful with women. While Saverin believed that the way to change that was to get accepted into one of the school's elite Final Clubs, Zuckerberg took a more technical approach, by hacking into the University's servers and getting a hold of all the female students' pictures. He used them to create a very popular, even if short-lived, site allowing fellow students to vote on the photos.

The move nearly got Zuckerberg expelled, but it also sparked an idea that was to become the Facebook we all know. The book continues to detail the rest of the story with the rise of the social network to where it is today. Facebook has made no official comments about the book and has instructed its employees to do the same, but it is expected to be a success after it launches on July 14.
