It seems that Facebook is on a roll these days. After bringing forward so many innovations during the F8 2015 conference, it does not show any signs of stopping just yet.

In their attempt to make the social environment more fun for the users, they announced the release of a new tool called Riff which will allow you to make a video and then share it with your friends, who can join in and add a video of their own.

And this can go on forever as Facebook did not specify that they intend to limit the number of videos your friends can add.

Why is Facebook's new tool different?

Just imagine the idea of an endless collage of short videos, similar to a bunch of gifs or vines put together. The good part is that the videos have to be correlated in some way.

Before sharing the video, you must first think of a topic to make sure that the clips that your friends will later on add will be similar, so that you don’t have just a bunch of random videos put together.

Facebook didn't say how long the video has to be either, but the ones that they uploaded in their official announcement are no longer than just a few seconds.

People could not help noticing that this new tool has that Ice Bucket Challenge feel, mainly because as soon as one of your friends shares a video, he is expecting others not only to share it or to leave a comment, but actually to react to it with a video of their own. It’s just like launching a dare.

And just like the famous challenge, it is very likely that it will catch on and become popular very soon since whole video-sharing is like a chain reaction.

The Riff app is available for Android and iOS, and in order for your friends to receive a notification letting them know that you have uploaded the video, they will have to have the feature installed as well.

The videos will be shared within the app, but you also have the option to share them on Facebook.
