14 DAY TRIAL // RIM has just announced that it has updated its Facebook for Blackberry to version 1.9, which received lots of new features and enhancements. The developer of the application focused on adding more Facebook features taking into consideration all the feedback received from the Blackberry smartphone fans
One of the most important feature added in version 1.9 is the Dedicated Inbox, where users will be able to see only Facebook messages.
The new feature offers users the possibility to view Facebook messages in one place or combined with your Blackberry messages in your inbox.
The first time users will log into their Facebook account they will notice that the application will automatically pre-fetch the last 30 Facebook messages to populate the inbox.
Another interesting feature introduced is the Facebook Search, that can be used to search Facebook for a particular person or page.
Those that are using devices with Blackberry 6.0 OS will also be able to use the Universal Search to pull out results from Facebook, as the new feature has been perfectly integrated with the default search system.
Also, the Friends List has been optimized to add profile photos and you are now able to view pages in list form. Navigation bar has also been updated and users will now be able to view their profile, as well as add new icons for Facebook search and Message view.
Unfortunately, the new version doesn't add Chat, but users will be able to chat with their friends by installing Nimbuzz, which includes this feature for Blackberry smartphones.
RIM also stated that the final version of the application will also feature Facebook Places, as well as additional UI updates.
Facebook for Blackberry 1.9 is available only as beta and requires registration at the developer's website.
