A new beta version of the popular Facebook for BlackBerry application is now available for download from the BlackBerry Beta Zone for all those who would like to give it a try.

The new flavor of the application comes shortly after two other beta releases of Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones v2.0, and brings forth some features that would certainly appeal a lot to users.

Among these enhancements, we can count capabilities that many users have been asking for, such as Wi-Fi support or the ability to delete comments and posts, as well as a new notification pop-up that appears when deleting a Facebook message.

Through Wi-Fi support, users can easily stay connected with their friends and family when in a Wi-Fi environment, while enjoying the full capabilities of the Facebook app for BlackBerry smartphones.

Users should have a BlackBerry data plan with web browsing enabled so as to receive push notifications while connected on Wi-Fi, a recent post on the Inside BlackBerry blog reads.

With the new flavor of Facebook for BlackBerry, users would be able to delete unwanted posts and comments.

“If you don’t like what someone has posted on your Wall, or if you want to remove a comment you’ve posted on a friend’s wall, or even get rid of a status update that you’ve published, you can simply choose to delete it,” the aforementioned blog post explains.

And there is also the new prompt that appears when deleting a message from the Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones app. These messages would be permanently deleted from the Facebook account as well.

“You can now select whether you want to delete a message from the Facebook for BlackBerry smartphone application or from your Facebook account, or both. The choice is yours,” the blog post continues.

The new beta version of the application is available for download via the BlackBerry Beta Zone, which is available only in some of the markets around the world.

Those who would like to download and install the application on their devices would also need a new keycode. Info on how to obtain one is available in the BlackBerry Beta Zone discussion thread for members of the Facebook 2.0 beta program.
