New versions of the Facebook application for mobile phones running under Google's Android operating system or for those powered by Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 operating systems are now available for download.

On Android, the mobile application is available for download via the Android Market as version 1.5.3, and can be found here.

One of the main features that were included in the new release would be the fact that users can tag their friends when updating their statuses.

Those who would like to tag their friends would simply have to type “@”, followed by the friend's name.

In addition to this enhancement, the application also comes with a series of minor bug fixes, as well as with the option to add one's phone number to the profile. A new “Find Friend” feature was included into the mix as well.

Those who would like to try out the Facebook for Android app would be able to download it for free.

As for Facebook for Windows Phone 7, the application has just reached version 1.5, and comes with a series of minor enhancements, and no major improvements or new features, just as users might have wanted.

Some of the changes in the new flavor of the app would include the renaming of the auto refresh setting to Cach expiration, smaller notification listings, or the possibility to touch the entire notification to go to the update.

A series of performance enhancements were included into the mix as well, such as faster and smoother moving between screens and scrolling.

The new Facebook for Windows Phone 7 version 1.5 is available for download via the Windows Phone Marketplace here. It is available for free as well.

Future releases of this app for WP7 are expected to add some highly-expected enhancements into the mix, including a Live Tile, Push notifications, or Facebook chat capabilities.
