Facebook has finally updated its Android application to offer a really smooth user experience. The entire application has been rebuilt in native code, and is now twice as fast at loading photos and Timeline.

The performance and speed of Facebook for Android have been greatly improved due to the fact that devs decided to move from hybrid native/webview to pure native code.

Other features that got improved to make the application load faster include news feeds and Timeline.

According to devs, users will now be able to comment and like a story more quickly, and photo loading is optimized to be much faster.

Facebook 2.0 is now available as a free download via Google Play Store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.2 and later. Check it out here.
