Halloween is one of the most popular American holidays, especially since it allows people of all ages to get creative and dress up in creepy outfits. Therefore, it would not come as a surprise if the same persons took to Facebook to show off their costumes.

Zuckerberg’s social network is currently estimated to have more than 800 million users, and most of them upload photos on a regular basis.

Granted, not all of these users are American, but Halloween gradually got ‘borrowed’ by other nations as well, so the number of persons who celebrate this holiday is huge.

As is the case with all the parties that involve Facebook fans, the Halloween ones are bound to result in countless pictures that will be uploaded.

Since in 2010 the same holiday rounded up about 1.2 billion photos uploaded on Facebook, the ongoing year is expected to surpass it.

It is hard to estimate by how many images the aforementioned figure will be surpassed, as it all depends on the people’s enthusiasm and the success of their costumes.

Also, even if the number of Facebook users has grown considerably since 2010, most of them come from outside the United States, home of the pumpkin holiday.

Even so, the accurate number of uploaded photos will become known the day after Halloween, when everybody gets home and starts browsing through their newly-created collection of pictures.

Facebook Data Scientist, Itamar Rosenn, states that “The day after Halloween is one of the biggest photo sharing days of the year. Our data demonstrates that Halloween is the perfect visual and social holiday to share with friends.”

This is due to the fact that on the actual Halloween day, people are busy partying, visiting friends or planning pranks, thus uploading their photos on the second day.

In other words, everyone expects November 1st to bring more than 1.2 billion photos uploaded to Facebook, all of them related to Halloween, one way or the other.
