The hackers keep creating new accounts once every few days

The Syrian Electronic Army’s Facebook page is at facebook.com/SEA.240. However, it might not be for long since the social media giant keeps suspending the pro-Assad hacktivist group’s pages.

The hacker collective announces a new Facebook page once every few days. For instance, the 237th Facebook page was created by the Syrian Electronic Army on October 16. Some of them, on the other hand, were online for less than a day.

Judging by the announcements made on Twitter, some numbers have been skipped. I’m not sure if this means that some of the pages don’t last long enough to allow the hackers to notify their followers of their existence, or if they simply don’t pay too much attention to the numbers.

In any case, it’s safe to say that Facebook has suspended hundreds of the Syrian Electronic Army’s pages.

Facebook is not the only social media platform the group is having problems with. Their Twitter account is also suspended often, although the Twitter accounts appear to have a longer life than their Facebook pages.

In the meantime, it’s business as usual for the Syrian Electronic Army. They continue to target high-profile websites. Last week, the group hacked Qatar’s domain registrar and defaced several websites including ones of the country’s government and military.
