Facebook responds to all feedback it gets and constantly tries to improve user experience, so it has recently added support for larger images, while also optimizing its photo viewer.

Photo sharing is one of the most popular features of Zuckerberg’s platform, and this is why users are very demanding that new functions are constantly rolled out.

In this case, it is definitely a good thing that Facebook decided to increase the maximum size for the pictures one can view, from the previous 720 pixels to the current 960 pixels.

More than that, it appears that the increased resolution will also be applied to images that were already uploaded to one’s account.

As mentioned on the Facebook Blog, these larger pics will “load twice as fast, giving you quicker access to more detailed images.”

Another improvement recently revealed is that the photo viewer launched a few months ago got a new series of updates meant to help users focus on the images more and get less distraction from the background.

“The light box is now set against a simple white background that puts more of the focus on the photo, and less on the surrounding frame.”

All the mentioned changes will gradually become available to everyone within the following days, and the Facebook team is encouraging users to continue providing feedback.

Even though there are still users who do not like the new viewer, having more than 700 million members means that Facebook surely cannot please every single one of them.

Most people got accustomed to the new interface and continue uploading pictures on a regular basis, so that more than 250 million photos are uploaded daily.

It appears that, if one is to follow users’ requests, the next step would be to add basic photo editing functions, so that all image manipulation can be achieved within Facebook.

So far, the world’s most popular social platform has not announced any plans to implement such features, but considering how often they are requested, they are bound to be taken into consideration, sooner or later.
