Cybercriminals are trying to distribute a rogue Facebook application with the aid of posts that advertise interesting videos. Experts have spotted one scam that promises a video of a baby alien found by a farmer in Mexico, and one that purports to show human body parts inside a crocodile.

When users try to play the videos, they’re told to install a Facebook app called uTube Trending Videos, Cyberwarzone.com reports. The application requests access to victims’ personal information.

It’s worth noting that the videos of the alien baby and the man-eating crocodile do exist on YouTube. However, it’s not the scammers’ intention to show them to users.

The crooks are simply using the videos as bait to trick Facebook customers into installing their application.

If you come across such posts, make sure you don’t install any apps. If you’re already a victim, remove the uTube Trending Videos app from your Facebook profile.
