Scammers have initiated a bogus Southwest Airlines promotion on Facebook in an effort to trick users into liking their page and get them to complete various surveys.

According to security expert Graham Cluley, the scam posts read something like this: “We're giving away 90 tickets to Las Vegas, 6 tickets per winner for you and your friends. (Up to 12 winners). Holiday and hotels are all paid for with $1,000 spending money.”

Of course, no one ever wins anything.

The crooks on the other hand can make a whole lot of money if they trick a large number of users into taking part in the survey that hides behind the link contained in the Facebook post.

Users are advised to take part only in promotions announced on official websites and social media pages. Competitions initiated on shady Facebook pages should be reported to the social network.
