14 DAY TRIAL // Laying dormant in the previous iPhone / iPod touch application, the code for activating a ‘universal’ Facebook app across iOS platforms has been removed in the latest update, according to those who’ve went through the bits.
The new features Facebook implemented in their latest iPhone release don’t constitute the only changes occurring with the app, according to pocket-lint.
Apparently the hidden code that previously unlocked the iPad version of the app has now been removed.
The code was unearthed by a Canadian engineering student back in July. At the time, TechCrunch described the software as being the perfect complement to the iPad’s 9.7-inch display.
This can mean two things: either that Facebook has gone back to the drawing board, or that the company is simply attempting to thwart users installing the unapproved code on jailbroken tablets.
One way or the other, the iPad-native version of Facebook for iOS platforms has already been confirmed as scheduled for release sometime this year. The only question is when exactly?
There is also a chance Facebook has already submitted a new binary for review to Apple.
