14 DAY TRIAL // Yesterday we reported that a malicious application was doing the rounds on Facebook, alerting users that unless they verified their accounts, they would be terminated. In the meantime, Facebook has disabled the app to make sure no other members fall for the trap, CNET reports.
“This app has been disabled. We take action against apps that violate our platform policies as laid out here: https://developers.facebook.com/policy/, in order to maintain a trustworthy experience for users,” a company spokeswoman revealed.
The type of scam wasn’t new, but it did pose a great danger to unsuspecting users who feared that their accounts might be disabled.
While this is good news, we would like to remind our readers that such malicious applications could be re-launched at any time, so we highly recommend that you steer clear of account verification sites and ones that promise prizes or “must watch” videos.
