It looks like Facebook's attempt to draw people's attention to its Messenger service did not go that well after all, even if the company invited developers to create apps that allow users to send and receive GIFs, emojis and sound clips.

Many third-party developers claim that it's been very hard to raise users' awareness about these apps, but also to make users take advantage of them regularly.

That's why Facebook is turning to mobile developers once again, but this time with the purpose of adding games in Messenger app.

According to The Information, Facebook is already in active conversations with multiple game developers about its Messenger platform.

Since it's too early, no ETA has been given on the move, but at least three people have confirmed that if talks end successfully, then games will be introduced into the Messenger app store.

Discussions with game developers have been confirmed

Facebook's Ilya Sukhar is now in charge with the product department for Messenger's platform and he confirmed the talks, but did not offer any additional details on the matter nor info on when these game might be launched in the Messenger app store.

Apparently, Facebook believes that games have a better chance of drawing Messenger users due to their higher level of engagement.

Because many games take advantage of social networking features, adding them in Messenger might be a good idea especially if they also offer multiplayer modes.

Unfortunately, there's no telling when games will come to Messenger, but since applications are already available in the app store, we can safely assume that the games category will definitely make its debut as well.

While Messenger addicts will be thrilled about Facebook's plans to bring games to its platform, but it's unclear how successfully the move will be for casual users. Stay tuned for more into on the matter.
