A new Facebook phishing scam has been making the rounds for around one month or so. Emails entitled “Notice Blocking Facebook Account” inform recipients that their accounts need to be reconfirmed because they’re suspected of not being authentic.

“We have received feedback that your account may not be authentic. Facebook is a community where people share and interact using real identity. Please reconfirm your facebook account below,” the malicious emails read.

“All accounts that are not verified within 24 hours will be removed from our database and the user will not be able to use it again. Thank you for your attention.”

According to Hoax Slayer, the links contained in these emails point to a Facebook phishing website where victims are asked to enter their email address and password.

Once this step is completed, a second page appears, requesting other account-related information. Finally, a third phishing webpage asks users to provide their credit card details.

If you come across such emails, delete them immediately. In case you’re a victim, change your passwords immediately and contact your financial institution before the crooks get the chance to abuse your credit card.
