A number of nine Facebook pages belonging to Major League Baseball (MBL) teams were compromised yesterday. The individual who managed to gain unauthorized access has started posting all sorts of messages.

According to Deadspin, the Facebook pages of San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees, Washington Nationals, San Diego Padres, Miami Marlins, Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and Chicago White Sox have been taken over by an unknown hacker.

“Just a reminder tonight is FREE PITBULL NIGHT at Marlins Park. The first 10,000 fans ages 18 and under will receive a free rescued fighting Pitbull courtesy of the Dade County Animal Rescue League,” read the post on Miami Marlins’ page.

The one on the page of San Diego Padres read, “Just a note: though the handicapped are allowed to enjoy Padres games at Petco Park their attendance is strongly discouraged.”

Some shorter messages were also posted by the prankster. These include:

[Expletive] Bill Muray.

Check out the sweet bazongas on the blond in section 27, row 3!

Everyone knows President Obama is a die hard ChiSox Fan. Unfortunately, we’re voting for Romney.

Wow, the Chick-fil-A guy sure is an [expletive].

After realizing that they had fallen victim to a hacker, all the teams removed the posts and some of them apologized to their fans.

“Our Facebook account was hacked moments ago and an innapropriate message was posted on this page. We apologize if you viewed this message. The team and league are looking into this false post in cooperation with Facebook,” Chicago Cubs representatives wrote.

A Facebook representative has told TechCrunch that the unauthorized posts are a “result of actions from a single rogue administrator of these Pages.” They’re confident that this was an isolated incident.
