Trend Micro experts say cybercrooks are trying to distribute a malicious Chrome extension

Would you trust a Facebook page that has over 90 million likes? You shouldn’t, because it’s likely part of a cybercriminal scheme.

Experts from Trend Micro have come across numerous Facebook posts that appear to point to a page that has 90,657,728 likes.

Users who click on the links from these posts are not taken to a Facebook page, but to a website that urges them to update their Flash Player plugins in order to view a video.

The so-called update file that’s served to users has nothing to do with the legitimate Adobe Flash Player application. Instead, it’s a rogue Chrome browser extension (TROJ_EXTADB.US) that takes over the victim’s Facebook account and posts the same malicious posts on their behalf.

In case you’re a victim of this scam, delete all the posts published on your behalf, but not before removing the malicious extension from your web browser.
