The new version of the app allows users to record voice messages

Good news for Facebook Messenger users, as the developer of the instant messaging application has just released a new version that brings some important new features into the mix.

First of all, one of the most requested features, the ability to record voice message, has just been included in Facebook Messenger via latest update.

But there’s more to it, as Facebook announced that Messenger users can now send emoticons like smiley faces, a new option that was not available in any other previous version of the application.

Last but not least, lots of other improvements, including some to help users save data have been added in the last iteration. Under-the-hood enhancements and bug fixes have been made as well, but no additional details were shared by developers.

Unfortunately, the majority of Windows Phone users still think that using two apps (Facebook and Messenger) for one goal is annoying. The fact that Microsoft was forced to pull out the Facebook integration from Windows Phone 8 does not seem to please users of the platform.

Anyway, you can now download Facebook Messenger for Windows Phone 6.0.0.0 for free via Windows Phone Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Windows Phone 8 and up.
