Facebook has just announced that a new version of its Messenger application for Android devices will be available for download via Google Play Store in the coming days.

According to the developers, Facebook Messenger has been completely redesigned to offer a much smoother navigation in menus and a crisper look. The application is said to benefit from improved speed as well.

Aside from the major visual changes confirmed by developers, Facebook Messenger's Texting feature will be completely removed due to the fact that it “just didn't take off” as the company initially expected.

However, Facebook has stated that users will still be able to send text messages from their phones. The new version of Facebook Messenger will be available for a limited number of users beginning today and will be slowly rolled out globally.
