Facebook has just announced the release of an updated flavor of their Messenger application, now offering support for a wider range of devices.

In addition to being available for Android and iOS devices, the Facebook Messenger is now available on handsets coming from Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion as well.

Through this application, BlackBerry users will be able to enjoy the ability to keep in touch with their friends on Facebook even from their handsets.

Users will have the possibility to see who is online and who is willing to chat, and will benefit from an improved experience while on the go.

According to the team of developers behind the application, Facebook Messenger is capable of providing them with a faster way to message straight from the palm of their hands.

“We're excited to announce an update to Facebook Messenger. In this version, we've included a bunch of new features and performance improvements designed to make your messaging experience even better,” Facebook announced in a recent blog post.

“Now you can see who's online and who's on mobile, and know when the other person is typing. It's also easier to send messages to the people you message most.”

As soon as the application was installed, users should receive access to all of their Facebook conversations, and they will also be able to start new conversations as well.

Not to mention that users will be provided with the option to start multiple conversations at the same time, or to send messages to multiple contacts at the same time.

Moreover, the application comes with support for push notifications, and provides users with a wide range of other options as well.

The mobile application was made available for download via the BlackBerry App World. More details on it can be found on Facebook's website here.
