A Facebook message couldn't be that important to risk getting infected

Unlike the first scam of this type, the phony email doesn't warn of only one lost message, but three, and if you want to recover them, you must click on the “famous” apparently genuine link.

According to GFI, the alert seems to be coming from a domain called “notifierfacebook.com” and even though the solution to the problem seems to be legitimate, it takes the victim to a malicious location that advertises the usual miraculous products.

"You have three lost messages on Facebook, to recover the messages please follow the link below," reads the note.

As we've seen lately, you don't have to click on anything to get infected with a nasty piece of scareware, so make sure you check the location before following the link. Also, make sure all your security solutions, including browser and its extensions, are up to date.
