Facebook appears set to provide Android users out there with a brand new experience when it comes to the software it has released for their devices, and Facebook Home is one of the apps that will see a revamp soon, it seems.

Over the weekend, info on a new UI for the Facebook 4.0 for Android application has emerged online, courtesy of test builds that have been pushed to users in the beta program.

The application will come with a flat interface and repositioned buttons, and will bring some changes to the Facebook Home as well, on devices that do support the feature.

According to XDA-Developers forum member TheDemon7x, the Firefox 4.0 test build also included reference to changes that are set to affect the lockscreen of Facebook Home.

Interestingly though, Facebook is said to have built this lockscreen with support for the stock KitKat GEL launcher, and not Facebook Home, and packed it with support for more apps than just the popular social networking client.

As PhoneArena reports, the change includes having updates from services such as Instagram, Pintrest, Tumblr, and Flickr delivered directly to the Cover Feed.

The news site also notes that the custom lockscreen can be enabled by heading to the App Settings section in the aforementioned Facebook 4.0 test version, and going to the Home Settings (which won’t appear on all devices, it seems).

As soon as the feature has been activated, users will be able to swipe left on the lockscreen to access the camera, swipe down to unlock the smartphone/tablet, or swipe right for the Cover Feed.

Additionally, users will also be able to access music controls from this custom screen, while also being able to set the amount of data that the feature can use.

To better explain what the new enhancement is all about, the aforementioned XDA-Developers forum member created a video with it, and you can have a look at it below.
