The Nintendo DSi, the latest iteration of the DS handheld console from the Japanese company, has taken the world by storm even though analysts predicted that it wouldn't be as successful because the user base was already very large.

But they were wrong, as the DSi is selling like hot cakes all over the world. Thanks to its new features, like a camera or music playback capabilities, it quickly became popular with gadget fans. For them the company is working hard to integrate support for the popular online service Facebook.

This new connection between the device and the service will basically allow any DSi user to take a picture with one of the system's cameras, edit it if they want, and upload it to Facebook in an instant. It is also quite different than what Microsoft will do, as it wants to integrate the online service with its Xbox 360 home console.

The Nintendo of America president highlighted why the service was great for portable devices and most specifically for the DSi. “We think it makes a lot more sense for the DSi than the Wii from two different standpoints. One: the portable nature of the device and that instant satisfaction that you get from something like Facebook. More importantly, because of the two cameras and the 10 different camera lenses in the DSi, we think that's where the appeal is. For me to take your picture, blow up your head, blow up your nose, post it on my page, and say]'Ha ha ha, look what I did [...],' we think that's just a lot more fun and that's the direction we'll go.”

Do you think that the use of the DSi cameras and the ability to upload them to Facebook will become a popular feature or will people just want to take screenshots of games and their various achievements and upload them to the online service, like Xbox 360 users will be able to do in the near future?
