Facebook has introduced a couple of small but interesting tweaks to its comments system. For one, there is no send button anymore, you just have to hit Enter to post a reply. Even more interesting, if you want to delete a comment soon after posting it, perhaps to correct an error you've just spotted, you actually get to edit the comment rather than deleting it altogether.

Several people have spotted the new features and, though Facebook has made no announcement, it looks like the tweaks have been rolled out for everyone.

Of course, as with any Facebook change, some people don't like them, but it's hard to argue against any of the changes which further streamline the commenting system and save users little but precious time.

Until now, hitting the Enter key while writing a comment would start a new line in the message text. You had to hit the send button to post the reply or comment.

Now this is no longer the case, hitting Enter will post the message, simplifying the process somewhat. This may be annoying for those writing long, carefully formatted comments, but anyone that has actually read a Facebook comment will know that they are a very small minority.

For most people, starting new paragraphs is not something they need or do very often when writing a comment. However, posting it with a simple key press does make it easier for most users. And if you really need to start a new paragraph, hit Shift+Enter just like in any other input box that uses Enter as a send key.

The second tweak is very interesting and very smart. Often, immediately after posting a comment you realize that you wanted to add or correct something or maybe you've misspelled a word.

What most people did was to copy the text, delete the comment, and then paste the original text in the input box and edit it. Now Facebook does all of this for you, hitting the delete button will load the comment message in the text box so you can modify it.
