It’s compatible with Android devices with maximum resolution of 1280 x 768

Facebook has announced that its new Android launcher will be available for download to a limited number of smartphones beginning April 12.

It looks like Facebook Home will only be available for HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy S III and Samsung Galaxy Note II, while Samsung Galaxy S 4 and HTC One will receive it soon as well.

However, those who wish to try the application before its official launch can now download a pre-release build, which has just been leaked via MoDaCo.

Unfortunately, this build, which was pulled from a pre-release HTC First ROM, is a bit buggy and is only compatible with Android devices with a maximum resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels.

According to Paul O’Brien of MoDaCo, the Chat Heads feature does not work in this build, but the rest of the features should offer a smooth experience.

Keep in mind that you will need to uninstall the existing Facebook application from your device before installing the Facebook Home build.

Those who plan on installing this on a Nexus device are good to go as Facebook is built within the base ROM. Those who already have Facebook application in ROM and are rooted can also install Facebook Home using the workarounds provided by MoDaCo.

Last but not least, this build comprises three .APKs that need to be installed in order to experience what Facebook Home has to offer.

Last but not least, O’Brien states that “it's just been pointed out to me that the original leak was signed with test keys, which could present a security risk. With that in mind I've re-signed the APKs with my own private key for peace of mind and updated the download links.”

Those who wish to tinker with this unfinished Facebook Home build can head over to the original thread for more details on how to download and install it.
