Choose the exact order of photos, blog them out with words

Later today (we don’t know when exactly), Facebook will be releasing updated versions of its mobile apps with a major new enhancement in the photos department.

Users will be able to selectively upload multiple shots at once and stitch them into a single post, much like a blog entry, complete with descriptions and captions. The photo sharing feature will also be quite flexible, allowing users to move the images around if they change their mind about their order.

Tell the story the way you see it

A first for the mobile Facebook app, you can now select multiple shots from your camera roll, regardless of where you are in their timeline, and choose their position in your future post the way you want it.

Facebook makes the news official on its Newsroom, where Product Manager Thai Tran says, “Today, we’re making it easier to quickly share multiple photos on mobile. Now you can choose the exact order of photos when you upload them to Facebook for iPhone and Android.”

For example, you could be at the top of your camera roll timeline and select the last photos that will ultimately make up your post. And because the post will contain multiple images one after another complete with text, your post will essentially look like a blog entry.

“After selecting photos, you’ll see a preview of how the story will appear. You can write an introduction for the story, and add captions to individual photos,” adds Tran.

Move them around just the way you want

Even after you’ve selected all your photos, you can still group them any way you want thanks to the easy press-down function that lets you drag it to a different location in your post.

“If you want to tell the story in a different order, you can now press down on a photo and drag it to a different place,” Tran explains. “Once you’ve shared your photos, you and your friends will see the story in a new collage layout. Tapping into a photo lets you scroll through the story from beginning to end, as you created it.”

Tran confirms that all of this will be part of the upcoming Facebook update for iPhone and Android, which “will be available later today.”

So far the binaries are yet to hit their respective app stores, but we’ll be sure to update this story with download links when they do. Keep an eye out on Twitter as well. In the meantime, tell us how you think you’re going to use the new photo posts on your mobile device.
