In an attempt to make their customers’ experience as “safe and secure” as possible, Facebook has rolled out a few enhancements that should offer additional protection for users who surf the social network from their mobile phones.

One of the new additions is the Code Generator, which is meant as an improvement to the Login Approvals feature. Code Generator helps members who are experiencing difficulties in logging in from new devices because they are unable to receive SMS messages.

Now users will receive the Login Approval codes much faster, whether they have Internet or cellular access.

For now, the Code Generator is only available for Android devices, but the company promises to make it available for other platforms as well.

Customers who access Facebook from their mobile phones via the web browser (m.facebook.com) will be able to report unwanted content just as they do on their computers. This can be achieved by pressing the feedback icon or the “Comment” link and then the special icon in the upper right corner of the screen (see photo).

The final and maybe one of the most expected security improvements is the one made to account recovery.

Up until now, users who noticed suspicious account activity couldn’t do anything from their mobile devices because they would be presented with an error that recommended them to recover the account from a computer. Well, not anymore.

“Did someone add an unwanted email to your account? Now you can lock down your account and clean up any damage done using your phone. Did a hacker login from across the globe? You can review that login and reset your password on your phone,” Facebook’s security team explained.

Furthermore, they have even adapted their social authentication tool to work on mobile devices, giving members more ways of getting back into their accounts.
