Facebook dominance over the web continues to extend and there's no better indicator than the 'like' buttons popping up all over the place. But if you want actual numbers, Facebook accounted for a quarter of the page views in the US in the last week. One in four web pages served in the week ending November 13 were from Facebook, analytics company Hitwise says.

"In March, we reported an important milestone when the market share of visits to Facebook.com surpassed Google.com. Since then, we have continued to watch the growth of Facebook.com, which increased 60% from the same week last year and represented 1 in 10 US Internet visits last week," Hitwise reported.

"The amount of content consumption taking place on the popular social network has also grown substantially where nearly 1 in 4 page views in the US took place on Facebook.com for the week ending November 13, 2010," it added.

"The market share of page views for Facebook.com was 24.27% last week, 3.8x the volume of the 2nd ranked website YouTube.com with 6.93%," it continued.

There's no denying that Facebook is huge and it's only going to get bigger. While, in terms of new users, it's growth has been slowing, the existing ones are using the site more often.

And, as Facebook becomes a bigger part of the web, though the platform, 'like' buttons, Facebook Connect and so on, more people are going to spending more time on the site, in one way or another.

In terms of page views, Facebook already dominates in the US. Google and YouTube combined don't even come close to Facebook's page views.

With unique visitors, Facebook doesn't have such a massive lead, but it's still the biggest website in the US with more than 10 percent of visits. Google comes second with over seven percent and YouTube third with three percent. Combined, YouTube and Google account for slightly more visits than Facebook, but the social network still has room to grow.
