The official Facebook account of Colin Powell, former US Secretary of State, has been hacked. The hacker started publishing some of the pictures stolen from the email accounts of the Bush family earlier this year.

Sophos reports that the hacker managed to publish several posts and even an album named “GEORGE ‘DUBYA’ WALKER BUSH HACKING” before the account was suspended.

Experts believe the hacker either guessed the general’s password or he obtained it from another compromised website. The second scenario implies that Powell used the same password to protect all his accounts, a practice which unfortunately is not uncommon.

Currently, the account has been restored. The former official says his team is working with Facebook on addressing the issue.

“Dear Friends, as most of you realize, my fb page has obviously been hacked. I'm sorry you have to see all the stupid, obscene posts that are popping up. Please ignore as we are working with fb to take care of this problem. I appreciate your patience,” Powell wrote after the account was restored.
