BlackBerry users who are into the social networking will be happy to know that Research in Motion (RIM) has just announced the availability of Facebook 2.0.0.45 for BlackBerry smartphones, which fixes two issues that made the software almost unusable.

It took RIM and Facebook several more days to update the BlackBerry version of its mobile application, though iPhone and Android users received their updates more than a week ago.

Unfortunately, while other mobile operating systems receive new features, tweaks and improvements, as well smoother and sharper looks, RIM's BlackBerry platform is only getting bug fixes.

Apparently, Facebook for BlackBerry is the worst, as users reported that the application is loading slow and it fails to update often.

Furthermore, the software is plagued by inconsistent information and a lack of rich features, but also suffers from resource hogging and freezing issues.

With the latest version, the developers promise to fix two critical issues such as the freezing issues and another News Feed related problem.

According to RIM, the update does not bring any new features, instead it addresses the issue of the application freezing and the News Feed not refreshing.

BlackBerry users who already updated their Facebook application sent positive feedback, which means that Facebook got it right this time.

However, there are lots of features missing, which are present in the iOS and Android versions of the application.

Those who still want to use Facebook for BlackBerry are advised to update to version 2.0.0.45 to avoid random freezes.

If the latest update does not show simply open BlackBerry App World, hold ALT, then press R, and then press S and T, exactly in this order.

BlackBerry App World will close, but it will quickly open again. Basically, this procedure will refresh the app store, so that the latest version of Facebook will show up as available.
