Facebook is finally offering details on its 1.5 version for
BlackBerry, after a rather agonizing period for its fans that lasted over a year. It is true that it comes with many new features and applications, but we must admit that it took a little bit too long to launch it, and now it's up to you to decide whether the wait was worth it or not.
You may find these new features interesting for they deal pretty much with most of the complaints we've heard about this device. Some of the relevant ones are: the ability to upload
pictures as-you-go, inviting or accepting requests, and also checking your or your friends’ status on the Internet.
To make things even clearer, let us see in more detail which are the new capabilities of Facebook. For starters, we have New Account Creation, which allows you to create an account just by using your BlackBerry application; Access and manage Facebook phone book – which kind of does what its name implies, meaning, it helps you keep track of your contacts, or add others, and similar functions of your phone book; Facebook Birthday & BlackBerry calendar link – makes automatic connections, memorizing your friends' birthdays on your BlackBerry calendar; and the Facebook Event Calendar and BlackBerry calendar link – which, in a nutshell, saves the events you choose in the BlackBerry calendar, showing each one in a different color, and also allowing you to set up the reminder date.
Through all these new applications,
Facebook 1.5 should register a boost in the overall good impression people already have about it, the only downside here being that this device will not be released until the first month of next year, so keep your eyes peeled for it after the holidays. However, if all this is still not enough, know that the Facebook 2.0 also for BlackBerry application is in development as we speak, and is set for release sometime next year as well.
