Palm has just announced that it has updated Facebook social network application to version 1.3. The new update is available for those that are using Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus device, running webOS.

The Facebook for webOS application makes it easy to stay connected with friends and families, while on the go.

The social network application offers users the possibility to share status updates, upload and tag photos, check out their News Feed, browse their friends photo album and profiles.

Further, users will also be able to receive webOS notifications, and get their upcoming events and check on their messages inbox wherever they are.

The 1.3 update adds a few new features and enhancements, which are now available to webOS users, such as support for photo tagging, landscape mode, filtered news feeds, and a one-click option to easily view comments.

The Facebook app also integrates with other aspects of Palm webOS and Synergy, so users can instantly view Facebook info in their Contacts app or use the Photo app to upload directly to Facebook.

For those that prefer to try more advanced features that haven't been tested for too long, Palm also maintained the beta version of the webOS Facebook app, as well as the “official” release.

Of course, this is one way the developer can add new features or correct possible bugs in a future update.

Based on the users feedback they'll receive on the beta version, new functions can be added daily if the need arises and the implementation is easy.

As a side note, it seems that Facebook for Palm webOS has become the highest rated Facebook application on any smartphone, thanks to all the votes received from the Palm webOS community.

The new update can be downloaded directly from your Palm Pre Plus or Pixi Plus device.

I think this is all around good but could have it so when you press a link in notifications it doesn't open a web browsee which defeats the whole purpose of the app
