Owners of a mobile phone running under Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system have now the possibility to enjoy a newly updated application available for download from the Windows Marketplace for Mobile, namely Facebook 1.2. The software solution enables mobile phone users to easily access the social networking website, and offers enhanced features, it seems.

The new release 1.2 of Facebook's application for Windows Mobile includes the following features:
- Send messages to any of the people in your Friends list.
- Take pictures and videos on your phone, then upload them right to Facebook
- Call people directly from your Friends list
- Manage your profile and post anytime, anywhere

As one can see, the Facebook app not only enables handset owners to access the social networking website to send or read messages, but also offers them the possibility to manage their profile while on the go, as well as to stay up to date with the latest news and posts. Not to mention that one can easily share photos and videos with friends, all straight from the Windows Mobile-based handset. The solution can be downloaded on a desktop computer too, via this link.

The update for the Facebook application comes shortly after Microsoft made some changes to the Windows Marketplace for Mobile, of which we reported recently. Among the new features that the updated software portal delivered to users, we can count the possibility to install applications on a memory card, a functionality asked countless times by users, as well as the possibility to browse and purchase apps from different geographic catalogs, a feature called World View.

Users willing to benefit from the new enhancements will have to download and install an updated Windows Marketplace for Mobile client on their handsets. At the same time, we should mention that Microsoft also made some changes in the Marketplace that are meant to enhance the experience developers receive from the app portal, including the possibility for them to include their software for free on additional localized Marketplaces, improved ISV registration flow, or new applications policy changes.

Why is it so hard for microsoft to just ensure all the basics are there like checking who has liked posts, viewing groups etc? Android, blackberry and the iphone are zillion of miles ahead.
