Phishing scams and Facebook are two of the most popular web-related things these days although they have pretty different meanings and purposes. Phishing scams are extremely dangerous attacks, usually launched via email addresses, which attempt to steal users' private information through a fake website which looks similar to a legitimate one. On the other hand, Facebook is one of the most known services on the web, being a social network with millions of registered members coming from all the regions in the world.

Since it is so popular, Facebook is obviously one of phishers' favorite targets so, even if the social network implements all kinds of security measures, there's not much to do unless users care about their own security.

Following reports concerning lots of phishing scams launched through the social network service, Ryan McGeehan of Facebook came out to give some pieces of advice to all the users of the service who want to remain on the safe side without too much effort. Among the mentioned tips, the Facebook official gave the name of two recommended browsers which had already implemented anti-phishing filters: Firefox and Internet Explorer7.

The matter of the browsers which provide anti-phishing utilities is pretty popular these days, especially after PayPal announced that some browsers which are flagged as mistrusted may be blocked from accessing the service. It was even rumored that Apple's Safari, the Cupertino-company's browser available for both Mac OS X and Windows platforms, may be banned by PayPal because it doesn't currently provide anti-phishing solutions.

However, one thing is sure: Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer 7 have always been two of the most recommended browsers thanks to the well-developed functions they have to offer. And obviously, this is a good thing for both users and companies because we get strong features and they get money and popularity.
