On July 14, Facebook is launching a beta version of the users' profile design. As Pete Bratach, Facebook developer, says on the official blog, users can opt for a new appearance of the entire website, a feature that is now available only for ''sandbox,'' an application that gives users the opportunity to display various representative objects on their page.

As the developers
state, this is not the only improvement the team at Facebook is planning. More is to come. The progress of the interactivity between the users, of the ways people share different parts of their profiles, and a simpler way to login are currently the main challenges for the team.

As everything important has to be settled ever since in the early stages, users are told that, before the beta launch of certain new features, they should make three changes that have been available for quite some time, but whose utility wasn't really that obvious until now.

The first one refers to the list of available applications that couldn't be used unless they were installed. Because many users were cautious not to directly install a feature they didn't know anything of, the ''require_add'' tab is replaced by the ''require_login'' one. This provides the users with the possibility of testing the features they might be interested in.

The second change refers to the period of time that a user is granted within a single session. Until now, the session has been unlimited in time, but will be restricted to one hour, due to the changes in ''the flow for adding applications.'' The third thing users should align to until July 14 is the use of the profile_main attribute when adding new profile boxes, if they want these to be approved after the release date.

Any other questions regarding the changes will be answered in the FAQ column, Pete Bratach reassured all users.
