While the comparison between Apple's FaceTime offering and videophones is a bit far-fetched (after all, the latter have been around for far longer than the former), the truth of the matter is that they ultimately deliver the same level of functionality, which is also the case with the subject of this article, namely the Ojo Vision Digital Video Phone available from VoX Communications.

So, Pervasip Corp announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, VoX Communications Corp., a leading provider of wholesale Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone servicesand smartphone applications, has successfully implemented the Ojo Vision Digital Video Phone from Ojo Services within its network and will become one of the first companies to offer a seven-inch business class video phone with unlimited calling plans for both voice and video.

The phone comes equipped with a large, 7-inch LCD display, that also doubles as a digital photo frame, while users can even out video signal to a nearby TV set via the dedicated connectors it comes equipped with.

Moreover, the Ojo Videophone can store 300 contacts and supports voice mail, as well as caller ID, etc.

Pervasip's Chief Information Officer, Mark Richards, noted, "We are very excited to become one of the first companies to be able to offer this incredible product to both our retail and wholesale customer base.”

“The VoX network was able to easily support this product. We are passing the H.264 video stream from phone to phone and SIP messages on our network with zero defect and with crisp and clear video and audio. We see this product fitting a high demand business market that sits between Skype and similar products on the low end, and the higher quality products offered by Cisco and others at the high end of the market.”

“VoX expects to launch the product to both retail and wholesale customers in the first quarter of 2011” Mr. Richards noted, while in the same time leaving us hanging as far as the pricing of this future device is concerned.
