FaceLock for Symbian, a face recognition security application that replaces the traditional locking screen, has just been launched in the Ovi Store.

The application was among Nokia Innovators Hackathron finalists and one of the winners at the Nokia World 2010.

Currently, the application only supports Symbian^3 smartphones, but several users reported that the software works fine on Symbian Anna devices as well.

Although the main purpose of the application is to replace the standard unlock code used by people to protect their phones, it may take a while until one can be used with this biometric recognition software.

Furthermore, the application is not 100% accurate and sometimes it takes a while until it recognizes the user's face and unlocks the phone. However, is definitely worth a try, especially that the application is available for free in the Ovi Store.
