This year’s edition of the American Music Awards, celebrating the best of the best in music at this moment, took place last night in Los Angeles at the Nokia Center and, as we already mentioned on a previous occasion, it was truly the grand event organizers promised it would be. Even before the ceremony, fans were dazzled by the amazing red carpet ceremony, with Rihanna and Shakira rocking bold, wonderful creations.
Decked in Marchesa and Versace, the two singers were the highlights of the red carpet ceremony, each standing out from the grown for both originality and choosing items that best fit their unique, explosive personalities.
Rihanna, for instance, already acclaimed for her out-of-the-ordinary fashion sense numerous times, chose a black Marchesa prom-style of gown.
The dress not only played with contrast by coming with white fabric underneath, but also appealed to the imagination with the fine laser cutouts that made it resemble a fancy piece of broidery. Then, there was the flowery shape with simple corset to emphasize the waist, and the fact that Rihanna chose little accessories for it that made it all the more striking. Of course, the singer paired the Marchesa design with a pair of classic shoes with ankle straps to give more length to the leg.
As elaborate as Rihanna’s gown was,
Shakira’s was the complete opposite, yet still as striking. The Latino sensation chose a body-hugging, strapless and very short patterned Versace dress that came in very bright yellow and wonderfully highlighted her toned figure. This design too had cutout, though they were not as many and as fancy as the ones on Rihanna’s dress.
Shakira chose to accessorize the bright yellow Versace creation according to the silvery patterns on it, with chunky bracelets and high pumps, also in silver. What with the contrast between the color of the dress and the red carpet, suffice it to say that, if anything, Shakira could not have passed unnoticed even if she had tried.
