David Eckelberry, the leader of the development team at Lionhead, says that no final decision has yet been made on the always-on nature of the coming Fable Legends.

He tells the Official Xbox Magazine that, “The fact that we want to do a lot of things, a lot of systems on a servers, characters on a server. If it's online we can monitor you and make sure you don't edit your character file, or do something nasty there.”

The new Lionhead title is designed to appear exclusively on the Xbox One, which initially included a requirement to connect to the Internet every 24 hours.

Microsoft has dropped that provision and that means that the studio needs to make a decision, choosing between giving players more freedom and making sure that they do not cheat.

Fable Legends is designed to take place before the events of the first title in the game and players can choose to be a hero or a villain.
