Microsoft, as the publisher, and Lionhead Studios, as the developer, are announcing that those who have pre ordered Fable III, the upcoming role playing game that is set to arrive on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and on the PC, will be able to access a new tool called the Fable III Village Maker. Players will be able to customize an in game character that will then be brought to life in their copy of the video game.

Inside Fable III the villager will contact the main hero and will offer him an exclusive quest and deliver 1,000 gold, allowing him to prepare for the adventures that await him in the land of Albion. Lionhead is saying that the villager will continue to interact with the main character as he quests to become the king of Albion, although it's not clear whether the interactions will influence the outcome of the narrative in any way.

The developers are saying that there are 2,000 variations available in the Village Maker tool, from changes in gender, clothing and accent to setting the region of the world where they have been born. Players can also create a backstory for the character and unique personality traits. Lionhead is including social networking options, allowing players to share their creations using both Twitter and Facebook. Anyone can access the creation tool and use his imagination to create a character but only those who have pre orders can use a special code to actually get their creation in Fable III.

Fable III will be a game of two halves. Initially the player will need to capture the throne of Albion, which he can only do by enlisting the aid of the inhabitants. Once the player is king he will need to make sure that the promises he has made to his allies are kept in full. The Limited Collector's Edition of Fable III costs 59.99 dollars and comes with exclusive in game items like a dog breed, a quest and playing cards.
