Juventus might lose one of its biggest assets in the last couple of years. And when I say that, I'm talking about one of the best coaches in the history of Italian football, Fabio Capello.
It's no mystery that, if Juventus fail to remain in Serie A next season, a lot of players will move up to bigger clubs in Italy or even Europe.
It is the case of Fabio Capello too, who has been linked to a move in the American Major League Soccer. Being questioned if he is to be the next Sir Alex Ferguson of Italian football, Capello answered pretty amazed: "That's just what the papers consider like writing. Let's be serious". Also known as a technician who loves trying new and challenging coaching experiences, Capello will certainly not stay at Delle Alpi.
The New York Red Bull MLS soccer team has offered the Italian a pretty lucrative deal that is most likely to be taken under consideration by Capello. Despite being under the sum that he is currently receiving at Juventus, Capello will have a great Manhattan condo and a personal limousine (with a permanent driver) at any time.
Although the news may be taken as a bad joke by Juve fans, it is not that impossible for Capello to accept the job. Considering the fact that the MLS has added two more teams in the League, planning to reach the 18-team number by the end of 2010, soccer seems to be taking a lot of publicity out of hockey. Actually, more NHL officials were launching a warning towards the clubs and the players in the North-American league, in which they stated the increasing popularity of football instead of hockey.
With all that under way across the Atlantic, Capello might give it another thought. The Italian is the second football "star" to announce his will to participate actively in the American MLS. Even if he doesn't go to New York, it's more than likely that Capello will leave Juve's bench, in the case of a future relegation.
