FX Is Working on “American Psycho” Series Set in Modern Times

Patrick Bateman is coming back and, this time, he’s bringing a friend

One of the best received and instantly recognized movies of all times is “American Psycho,” starring Christian Bale as the unhinged and uncontrollable Patrick Bateman. FX is now working on a project that will bring him back.

However, this time, he’s coming to the small screen and he’s not coming alone.

Deadline has learned that FX has teamed up with producer Allison Shearmur and writer Stefan Jaworski and are developing a series that will put a modern spin on the cult movie.

The action takes place in modern times, for which reason you could probably refer to the series as an “update.”

“It will feature serial killer Patrick Bateman, now in his mid-50s but as outrageous and lethal as ever, taking on a protégé in a sadistic social experiment who will become every bit his equal — a next-generation American Psycho,” the e-zine reports.

For the time being, there’s not even an estimated release date so, until it’s announced, let’s take a few moments to recall what the original was all about, with the trailer above.

*Please note that the trailer above is a red band release, so discretion is recommended.
