The development team at Subset Games announces that it is working on an expansion for its game FTL that is called Advanced Edition and is set to be launched on the PC in early 2014, the same moment when the core game will arrive on the iPad.

The extra game content will be free for all those who have bought the game and will include a new mind-control system, which allows to temporarily control enemies, as well as a hacking mechanic, which can be used to take out enemy systems.

The Advanced Edition also introduces weapons and effects that will make the game even more replayable.

But the biggest addition to FTL is the new sector and the events associated with it that are created by the original writer Tom Jubert in collaboration with Chris Avellone.

The team adds in the official announcement that, “we’ve continued to polish FTL and add some of the most requested small features. As a few examples: you’ll be able to save your crew positions and send them back to battle-stations, save and quit during combat, and find more items for purchase in stores.”
