Nintendo must be swimming in cash. It's either that, or they're really trying to intimidate their competition

What do you know, Nintendo has made so much money lately (it probably has something to do with the Wii's popularity) that it affords to spend no more, no less than 18 million dollars on Wii Remote Jackets. That's right, according to IGN, Nintendo is keen on shipping Wiimote jackets to all Wii owners out there. It's you who has to request it but still, you get it for free so there's no reason why you shouldn't order yours now.

"We're always looking for ways to improve our products and make sure everyone has a safe and fun experience," said George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "Many electronics manufacturers provide similar protective covers for products like cell phones, PDAs and MP3 players."

True, true, but $18 million? Come on, Nintendo... What, is silicone that expensive of a material? Either they're literally swimming in cash or they're just trying to show off, maybe even to intimidate their adversaries...Come to think of it, Sony's officials must be furious knowing that they're doing everything they can to get that PS3 moving (with few positive results), while Nintendo is barely keeping up with the demand for the Wii (even claiming that they actually won't be able to meet demand this winter holiday season) and also releasing a ton of free "condoms" for the Wii Remotes, just 'cause they could.

Nintendo says that you can order your very own Wii Remote Jacket at their official website, but before you do that, know that the form will require you to type in the serial number of your console. More than that, the offer is limited to Wii users in the US and Canada. Yup, they're not giving out free stuff to anyone that "doesn't matter."
