The special effects company that has created the quadrotor drone that appeared in a viral video that seems to promote Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has posted a screenshot that shows the device appearing in an early build of the game.

Reel Efx posted images of a screen showing the quadrotor in a video game, but there’s no way to confirm that they are actually taken from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

The images were posted on the company’s website, but since then they have been taken down, which might mean that they were the real thing.

The quadrotor video showed the drone in action and talked about its potential battlefield use, saying that it will take more than 10 years for the armed forces of the world to complete research on the technology used and then deploy it.

A number of fans have seen this as a sign that Black Ops 2 will be set in the near future and will see players use a new high tech arsenal rather than the more traditional weapons used in the first game using the name.

Video game publisher Activision has not offered any clear comment on the quadrotor video or on the leaked screenshot, but the company has said that it will make an official announcement next week.

Since Modern Warfare 3 was launched Activision confirmed that a new game in the Call of Duty series will be offered during the fall of 2012, but the company has refused to offer any details or the name of the team that will handle development duties.

Call of Duty is the biggest title franchise in the world of video games and Activision heavily relies on it.

The game is usually launched in the first half of November, which means that it will face tough competition from Halo 4.
