14 DAY TRIAL // FKA Twigs is slowly emerging as a very successful singer. Her relationship with Robert Pattinson, the “Twilight” hunk, has brought her to the attention of the world, and people are discovering that her music and her videos are quite different.
The British singer has just released her new video for the song “Video Girl.” Last week, she put out a special version of the clip, one that she herself directed and that used Google Glass in the process. It was a promotional move, but it showed that Twigs could also direct.
This week's release is directed by Khalil Joseph and it's equally disturbing. It shows Twigs singing and dancing in a prison, as one convict is living out his final moments, getting ready for his execution by lethal injection.
“Video Girl” is the second release from her debut album “LP1” and it follows the song “Two Weeks.” The video is black and white and filled with disturbing imagery, like Twigs dancing on top of the inmate who is strapped to the table, waiting for the chemical cocktail to enter his system and kill him.
The singer is a favorite to win this year’s Mercury Prize that will be awarded in London later today.
