FIFA Street, the football simulation game from EA Sports which takes the sport to the street level, has managed to take the number one position in the United Kingdom video game chart during its first week on sale, ending the one week rule of Mass Effect 3, one of the biggest launches of the year so far.

FIFA Street is based on the engine used for FIFA 12 but focuses more on tricks and quick passes, aiming for more spectacular plays and more player adrenaline.

Mass Effect 3 has a chance of returning to the top of the United Kingdom chart during this week, when it has a smaller amount of new competitors to battle with.

Video game publisher Electronic Arts must be happy with its performance for the week that ended on March 17 as SSX, its snowboarding video game, also managed to take third spot in the chart, coming from second, while FIFA 12 managed to retain fourth spot, about seven months after its launch date.

The first non-Electronic Arts title in the United Kingdom chart is Mario Party 9 from Nintendo, which has retained its fifth place.

Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games has taken sixth place, gaining one position as the real-world games approach, while RAGE, the first-person shooter from id Software and Bethesda, has made one of the most impressive comebacks the chart has ever seen by reaching seventh place coming from 20.

Zumba Fitness from 505 Games has taken eighth place, coming from tenth, while Assassin’s Creed: Revelations continues to hold court in ninth place.

The United Kingdom top ten is closed down by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, a slide of two places for the first-person shooter from Infinity Ward and Activision Blizzard.

Street Fighter x Tekken, The Sims 3: Showtime and Twisted Metal are now out of the top ten.
