FIFA 15, the new football simulation title from EA Sports, continues to sit at the top of the United Kingdom video game chart for the second week in a row, showing that its popularity remains constant even if other very big titles are being launched around it.

The new game is available on the PC, the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and last-gen consoles, and as the big European championships are in full swing, gamers will probably continue to buy it in the coming months and another big boost for it will probably take place in time for Christmas.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, the open world action game from Monolith and Warner Bros., has managed to take second place during its first week on sale.

Gamers and reviewers are very happy with the Nemesis system that the developers have created, which allows players to deal with a variety of unique enemies and see how they evolve over the course of the story and get to play an even bigger role in the armies of Sauron.

It will be interesting to see if the game has staying power or if it will quickly slide out of the United Kingdom top ten as other big titles arrive on the market.

According to UKIE, the final position on the podium is occupied by another new launch, Forza Horizon 2, the racing game created by Playground Games and published by Microsoft only for the Xbox One home console.

The best of the rest

Super Smash Bros., which is at the moment only offered on the Nintendo 3DS handheld, is in fourth place, which is a sign that the Wii U version that will arrive before the end of the year could be a huge hit.

Destiny, which sat in second place during the previous seven-day period, is at the moment in fifth, clearly unable to compete with the new launches, and is followed by the PlayStation 3 version of Minecraft, which was previously in ninth place.

Seventh position in the United Kingdom chart belongs to Disney Infinity 2.0, the mix of toys and video game action from Disney, which introduces a range of new heroes including those from Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers.

The Xbox edition of Minecraft is in eight place, followed by Call of Duty: Ghosts from Activision.

The United Kingdom top ten is closed down by The Sims 4, which has just received a new free patch that allows gamers to actually play as ghosts.
