Activision is betting on Destiny, but bookmakers can't go wrong with football

It appears that FIFA 15 is this year's Christmas favorite video game for the United Kingdom, according to a bookmaker's predictions.

The information comes from UK bookmaker William Hill, stating that EA Sports' football video game, coming out later this month, holds 1/3 odds of coming on top this Holiday Season, even managing to beat Destiny, at 4/1, as Videogamer reports.

The information is not exactly shocking, given the love that the United Kingdom has for the King of Sports, and the tradition in playing it that dates back to the Middle Ages.

What is surprising though is the fact that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is revealed to be the third favorite title for Christmas Number 1, in spite of the fact that the stealth-based action adventure video game is not coming out until later in 2015.

The next game on the bookie's list is Assassin's Creed: Unity at 7/1, followed by Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris at 10/1 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel at 10/1.

Games such as Far Cry 4 and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, two first-person shooter heavy hitters that are also expected to perform very well this Holiday Season, puzzlingly, don't even make the bookie's list.

"Destiny is no doubt going straight to the top of the charts this week, but its sales look likely to tail off to make way for FIFA come Christmas," William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly alleges.
