FIFA 14 is getting what might become its most popular downloadable content pack on May 29, as a separate mode associated with the coming 2014 World Cup in Brazil is added to the Ultimate Team side of the football sim.

Now, the development team at EA Sports is delivering the ratings for the top 40 players that are included in the extensive DLC.

The company says that, “With the introduction of a new add-on to our already popular FIFA Ultimate Team, we’ve made some modifications to the stats of the players taking part in this June’s FIFA World Cup. These ratings have been determined based on national team performances.”

All the changes are only applied to the World Cup-themed content and will not be transferred to the standard FIFA 14 Ultimate Team mode.

The ratings have already proven controversial with some fans and the discussions will probably continue until the real World Cup ends in early July.

FIFA 14 has been a solid success for publisher Electronic Arts in many ways because players are willing to invest both time and money in the Ultimate Team mode.

A new game in the series will be delivered in the fall of this year and the studio has promised a number of tweaks but no revolutionary changes.

UPDATE: All the players and their stats are up on the site.
